Who is Aquarion?
Aquarion Engineering Services is a small civil and environmental consulting firm. The firm started in 1989 as a private company – Environmental Engineering & Remediation (EER) owned by Michael and Kathleen Crawford. Our first project as EER was the design and operation of a groundwater treatment system for the McKin Superfund site in Gray, Maine. Mike's background in hazardous waste and municipal wastewater treatment was the starting point for the company and these sectors are still a core component of our work.
In addition and complimentary to our original sectors Aquarion offers services in Water & Wastewater Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Municipal Engineering, and Civil Engineering. Aquarion has completed more than 800 environmental site assessments, water and wastewater utility due diligence assessments, and other specialized services. Our clients include banks, real estate developers (residential and commercial), architects, homeowners, food producers, computer equipment manufacturers, water and wastewater utilities, law firms, and federal, state, and local governments.
In February 2001, EER was purchased by Aquarion Services Company, the largest privately owned and operated water utility in New England. Aquarion Services Company is a subsidiary of Kelda Group, one of the 10 largest water companies in the world. The combined resources and experience of the Kelda and Aquarion team provides Aquarion Engineering Services with access to significant expertise in the planning, design and operation of water and wastewater utilities.
